Monica Saldivar released her highly-anticipated EP, Soy Mas Fuerte, along with the title track that brings awareness to domestic violence.

The five-track EP released on May 19 takes the talent of the award-winning singer to the next level and was one of her favored projects.

“I love this EP,” Saldivar tells Tejano Nation. “This is definitely one of my favorite projects that I’ve gotten to do with Eddie Perez, who produced the majority of it.”

Perez produced four of the five songs for the EP, which will have deluxe version released later this year.

“I can’t wait for everyone to hear the deluxe version of it,” she added. “There’s going to be so much more to this album and I just feel like it’s a step up for my career.”

The lead single from the EP is the title track, written by Florida-based singer and songwriter Jesse Villarreal, that brings awareness to a problem that affects 10 million people in the U.S. each year, according the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

“‘Soy Mas Fuerte’ deals with domestic abuse and in our culture, as well as around the world, there’s so much domestic violence, there’s so much domestic abuse, for men and women that we’re just not talking about it enough,” Saldivar said. “We’re not giving it light where it needs to be and whenever Jesse reached out to me, one of his main things to talk about with this song was to give people the strength to either walk away, or to pay tribute to people that we’ve lost when it came to domestic violence.”

“We wanted this song to be a full circle thing,” she added. “We didn’t want it to be just this sad story because when we talk about domestic violence we think of the people that didn’t make it out. I wanted to make sure that this topic wasn’t going to just fade away.”

Soy Mas Fuerte is the follow-up to the 2015 Tejano Idol winner’s self-titled debut album released in 2019, which earned Saldivar Top New Female Artist at the My Tejano Awards in 2019 and Best New Female Artist at the 40th annual Tejano Music Awards in 2020.
